THE EXCHANGE ® and the ACCULINK® Networks

Members traveling across Canada can easily find surcharge free ATMs on THE EXCHANGE® and the ACCULINK® Networks. If you are traveling around Atlantic Canada, Ontario or British Columbia refer to THE EXCHANGE® information below and if you are travelling in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, additional ATMs can be located by referring to the ACCULINK® Network information. Combined, these two networks provide members with over 3200 surcharge free ATMs across Canada.

The ACCULINK® ATM Network

Canadian credit unions belong to the Cooperative EFT Development Association (CEDA) and participate in the ACCULINK® ATM network. ACCULINK® is the brand name for the credit union system’s proprietary, surcharge free ATM service which connects and supports over 1,800 credit union ATMs, over 380 credit unions and over 5,000,000 members.

This network provides members with many services without having to worry about paying additional fees (standard account charges still apply) including:

  • Withdrawals within the daily maximum amount as specified by the member’s credit union at all full function and cash dispensing ATMs.
  • Deposits including cash, cheques and other negotiable items to accounts at all full function ATMs.
  • Changes to the personal identification number (PIN) at all chip enabled ATMs.
  • Transfer of funds between accounts at all full function and cash dispensing ATMs.

  • Balance inquiries of the available balance on accounts at all full function and cash dispensing ATMs.

Three Ways to Locate the ACCULINK® ATMs in Canada

  • Look for the ACCULINK® logo on the ATMs.
  • Search online: http://locator.cucentral.com
    To use the locator, fill out the “Search By Address” field (enter the name of a city/place) and click on “Search”. The branches and ATMs will display for the location entered. Your search can be narrowed by checking the filter options and clicking “Apply Filters”.

  • Download the “Canadian Credit Union Branch and ATM Locator” app.
    This free, mobile application enables members to find credit union branches and ATMs available on the ACCULINK® service and THE EXCHANGE® network anywhere across Canada. The app is available for your iPhone®, BlackBerry®, Android™ or Windows® smartphones. The app's global positioning system (GPS) provides an interactive map and directions from your current location to your branch/ATM of choice. It displays additional information including branch/ATM hours and services available.

THE EXCHANGE® ATM Network

THE EXCHANGE® is a network made up primarily of credit unions and some banks that have come together and agreed to provide surcharge-free withdrawals, deposits and PIN changes to each other’s cardholders — at or 2,000 ATMs across Canada.

 

Three Ways to Locate THE EXCHANGE® ATMs in Canada

  • Look for THE EXCHANGE® logo on the ATMs.

  • Download the “Atlantic CU ATM Locator” app.
    This app is available on Android, Blackberry and iPhone (not available on Windows smartphones). The app will locate over 2,400 surcharge free ATMs and display details including: deposit availability, hours, PIN change availability, languages, directions and interactive map.

Travelling outside of Canada: The EXCHANGE (US), ACCEL® and the Cirrus® Networks

When travelling outside of Canada, you can access your money by looking for the ACCEL POS network, The EXCHANGE in the US or the Cirrus US and International Network logos. While you may incur additional usage fees in some cases, these convenient services are in place to provide you with instant access to your money.
